Good Friday is a unique day for us, as we take some time to recall the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross.
Once again, this day is very different, due to the on-going challenges we face with covid 19. However, we are delighted to be able to offer these stations, especially aimed at children and families. All parishioners are most welcome to watch!
Some of our young people, including a number of our confirmation candidates, have contributed to presenting these stations to you, using the actual stations which adorn the walls in St Joseph’s. They will begin by explaining why we pray the stations of the cross.
We encourage you all to join in with the response, at the beginning of every station:
“We adore you, Oh Christ, and we praise you
because, by your cross, you have redeemed the world”
You might like to find 14 tee-light candles and have a member of the family light one with each station – it’s easy to pause the video to give yourself time to do this!
As our young people share, imagine yourself in the scene. There is also a prayer at the end of each station.
On Good Friday, we would normally be able to venerate the cross at church. To help make this day special, we are opening the church this afternoon for private prayer between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm. You are most welcome to come along and take a few moments – individually or as a family – to pray before the cross.
And don’t forget to check out our other Holy Week and Easter Resources for Children where you’ll find some lovely activities for the next three days.
Finally, a BIG thank you to all those who contributed to creating these stations
you know who you are and we are very grateful!
