The Government announced on Thursday that the House of Commons will vote on an amendment which would make DIY abortions permanent on Wednesday (30 March). This amendment was passed in the Lords on 13 March, despite Government opposition.
DIY or home abortions were brought in at the beginning of the pandemic. Following a public consultation, the Government has decided to end the scheme. However, abortion proponents are desperately scrambling to get it permanently on the statute book.
We have two years of evidence of the damage this reckless policy has done to women and babies. We need as many people as possible to write to their MPs, asking them to oppose this amendment.

People just enter their postcode, and an automatic email template is brought up to send to their MP.
If this amendment is passed through the Commons, DIY abortion will be on the statute book. This will mean there will effectively be no restrictions on abortion. Anyone will be able to access abortion pills for any reason, and there will be no measures in place to stop the pills from being taken at any stage in pregnancy, outside of manufacturers’ recommendations and the legal abortion time limit.
