The Church Founded by Jesus Christ

The Catholic Church has approximately 1.3 billion members worldwide, comprising almost 3,500 dioceses around the world. The Pope, who is the Bishop of Rome, is the chief pastor of the Church and the Church’s administration, the Holy See, is in the Vatican City, a tiny enclave of Rome, of which the pope is head of state. The core beliefs of Catholicism are found in the Nicene Creed.

The Catholic Church teaches that it is the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church founded by Jesus Christ in his Great Commission that its bishops are the successors of Christ’s apostles, and that the Pope is the successor to Saint Peter, upon whom primacy was conferred by Jesus Christ.

We hope that the resources in this section will help you know more about the Catholic faith.

The Fathers Write

Fathers Peter and Antonio take it in turns to give us their take and perspectives on the Sunday readings, writing in their own inimitable style.

The Sunday Message

Written by the Redemptorists, the Sunday Message is focused on giving a practical application to the Sunday Gospel. Each week, an original exposition of the Gospel is provided, along with a short reflection encouraging the reader to relate it to their life.
