After 14 years, Fr Peter, our wonderful Parish Priest, Fr Peter has retired.
We had a ‘ Leaving party weekend’ for Fr Peter in early July which was great fun and this past weekend, Fr Peter celebrated all of the Masses at St Joseph’s for one last time. Several parishioners from his previous parishes attended and also those parishioners who have been very poorly made a special effort to attend to say their goodbyes. Members of our Parish Council gave the leaving speeches ( all of the Masses were recorded and can be watched on www.churchservices.tv/bishopsstortford).
Fr Peter was presented with an Air fryer, a water boiler, a special engraved wooden box containing all of the notes, cards and good wishes from parishioners, a photo book containing photos of his time in the parish and a cheque for £6,500 ( with more money donated at the weekend, so this final total will increase!)
We send our love, prayers, thanks and best wishes to Fr Peter as he sadly leaves our parish and moves to Wapping in East London. We will all miss him enormously and wish him every happiness and good health for his well deserved retirement. He has served as a Priest for 32 years, 2 months and 12 days.
Fr Peter’s final heartfelt message to us all was a simple one to remember, ‘ JUST BE KIND’..
