“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Back in November, 45 of our young people said their “yes” to beginning their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. We are now well into our preparation programme, which has seen our group having to be very accommodating of a constantly changing situation, as we continue to navigate the pandemic. However, as we begin 2022, they will now take the next step. Over the next few weeks, they will be rolling up their sleeves to take on a monthly responsibility in the parish for the year of 2022.
Our young people have opted to do a number of different things. You will see them getting involved in some of the ministries connected to our celebration of Mass – such as reading and collecting – whilst others will busying themselves with such activities as gardening, flower arranging, fundraising and even learning to do some web design! We hope that each one of them will learn a new skill and gain a wonderful sense of being a more integral part of our parish community.
We thank those parishioners who have offered to assist them in these duties, as well as their parents for encouraging them.
So, if you see a young person helping at Mass or working in or around the church, why not say hello and affirm them in their efforts – it is good to receive encouragement!
Most of all, please do pray for our young people as they continue their preparation. May they, with the assistance of the wonderful catechetical team working with them, experience God’s presence in a powerful new way in the months ahead!
