We share the sad news that Fr Robert Styles SJ, who had devoted 66 years to religious life, died peacefully on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, at the Corpus Christi Jesuit Community in Boscombe. He was 88 years old.
During his Priesthood, Fr Bob, looked after the parishioners at Holy Cross at Much Hadham and Most Holy Redeemer at Sawbridgeworth from 1997 before he retired in 2015. He was much loved and respected.
Fr Bob shared many of his personal reflections through a blog he maintained from 2015 to 2018. Written as a private series of thoughts on the Church, faith, and current affairs, the blog was intended to encourage thoughtful discussions. A Requiem Mass for Fr Bob will take place on Wednesday 3 September 2025 at 12.30pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 757 Christchurch Rd, Boscombe, Bournemouth, BH7 6AN. All are very welcome
A Mass intention will be offered for Fr Bob at Holy Cross on Sunday 7 September 2025 and at Most Holy Redeemer on Sunday 14 September 2025 when both churches reopen after the summer break.
