On Friday Most Holy Redeemer in Sawbridgeworth hosted the annual World Day of Prayer.
This involves all the Churches in Sawbridgeworth – MHR; Great St. Mary’s; the Congregational Church and St. James’s, High Wych. Our theme this year was ‘The Cook Islands’ near New Zealand.
We heard stories from three women of the Islands and we dressed the Church in keeping with the theme.
The Church was almost full, with local people from all the Churches in Sawbridgeworth as well as visitors from Bishops Stortford, and each visitor was given a flower as they came in.
Fr. Peter gave a welcome address.
After the wonderful service, which several people said was ‘perfect’, tea, coffee and refreshments were available to all.
The comment that we heard most often was how welcome everyone was made to feel. Next year’s World Day of Prayer service will be at Great St. Mary’s in Sawbridgeworth.
