This Sunday, the Feast of Christ the King, marks the 40th World Youth Day. For forty years, the Church has offered us this annual opportunity to share with young people the truth that the Christian message is one of joy and hope and transforms all who believe in it.
World Youth Day was established by St John Paul II in 1985 to take place on Palm Sunday. Since 2021, it has been celebrated on Christ the King Sunday, placing its focus on the mystery of Jesus Christ our Redeemer.
As we come to the end of this Jubilee Year, Pope Leo is asking young people to be witnesses of Christ. This means bringing the fraternity and peace that friendship with Christ awakens in us to all who search for meaning and purpose.
